Community Support Workers
Empower Lives, Build Communities - Join Us as a Community Support Worker!
Part-time hours available
Locations: Whangārei | Dargaville | Kerikeri
At CCS Disability Action, we believe in a world where every disabled person and their whānau/whānau hauā are fully woven into the fabric of their communities. Since 1935, we've been championing inclusion, advocacy, and support—empowering disabled people to live their best lives.
About the Role
As a Community Support Worker, you'll play a vital role in ensuring disabled people have the support they need to live independently and thrive within their communities. You'll work closely with individuals to help them achieve their personal goals, build confidence, develop skills, and create meaningful connections with their whānau and wider community.
Your days will be varied, but your mission will always be the same: to provide compassionate, culturally respectful, and empowering support that enables people to lead fulfilling lives.
What You'll Do:
- Support individuals to achieve their goals as outlined in their Personal Plans.
- Build independence, confidence, and inclusion in the community.
- Provide creative, flexible, and responsive support that reflects our values.
- Champion cultural values and respect within every interaction.
- Foster community awareness and inclusivity for disabled people and their whānau.
Our approach centers on the Enabling Good Lives principles—shifting power and choice back to disabled people and their families. We take a social, not medical, approach to disability, focusing on empowerment and inclusion.
About You
We're looking for people who are passionate about making a difference and embody the following qualities:
- A genuine desire to support others to live their best lives.
- Flexibility with working hours.
- A clean, full driver's license.
- Experience working with youth (an advantage for our respite service).
- A background in one-to-one community support (preferred but not essential).
- A Health Care Assistant Qualification, Level 2 or 3 equivalent, or experience in the disability sector—or a willingness to train.
