CCS Disability Action's vision is to see every disabled person/whānau hauā interwoven into the lives of their whānau and community.

We are the largest pan-disability support and advocacy organisation in New Zealand. Since 1935, we have been at the forefront of service provision, advocacy and information sharing working closely with disabled people / whānau hauā and their families across New Zealand.

About the role:

The goal is to ensure that disabled people can live in their own homes and participate in their communities by accessing opportunities of their choosing as detailed in their Personal Plan. The support provided will promote confidence, skill building, independence, quality of life and inclusion within the family / whanau and the wider community.

As a Community Support Worker, you will:

• Ensure disabled people have the ability to reach their identified goals in an enabling, culturally respectful and unobtrusive manner.
• That the support work is driven by the person we support individual Personal Plan.
• That the service delivery is creative, flexible, and responsive to the needs of the disabled person and in line with CCS Disability Actions values and mandates.

With the support of our organisation, you'll:

• The disabled people are supported in making their own decisions and can participate to the best of their ability within their own communities.
• Provide empowering, competent, and respectful support consistent with the cultural values of the individual, and his or her whanau.
• Provide support which encourages and facilitates the individual's inclusion in their family / whanau and wider community
• Communities are aware and are more inclusive of disabled people and their families/whanau.

Our organisation takes a social, rather than medical approach, supporting disabled people to live their best lives. We are guided by the Enabling Good Lives principles, shifting power and authority back to disabled people and their families, to increase choice and control in their lives.

About you:

We are looking for people who:

• Have a passion for enabling others to lead good lives
• Have flexibility in the hours you can work
• Have a clean full driver's license
• A minimum of 1 years' experience working alongside Youth would be an advantage for our respite service
• Experience providing one to one support in the community is preferred but not essential
• Have a Health Care Assistant Qualification or a Level 2 or 3 equivalent or experience working in the Disability sector, or a willingness to undertake training
